There are actually two forms of search marketing that are available to any business: Paid Search Marketing and Organic (Natural) Search Marketing. Both forms of search marketing have their own place in a business' overall marketing mix and one should not be excluded in favor of the other.
Paid Search Marketing for Fast Results
Good web design, on the other hand, offers reassurance to visitors that a company is capable of delivering valuable information to them quickly, efficiently, and reliably. Credibility is enhanced, a good reputation is cultivated, and traffic steadily builds on the website.
Paid search marketing is a highly successful strategy for advertising your business online -- especially if your sales have dropped off due to the current down economy and business needs to turn around quickly. If executed properly, a good paid search marketing campaign has the potential for boosting qualified lead production and increasing sales better -- and faster -- than any form of offline advertising available. Better yet, paid search marketing is highly trackable so that you know right away what online ads are producing results and which need to be changed on the fly.
Basically, paid search marketing revolves around building a list of “keywords” that are relevant to the products and/or services your business offers. Actually, the best keywords and not single words at all, but rather phrases containing one or more relevant words that describe the business.
The online system that advertisers use to display your online ads is called "Pay-Per-Click", or PPC. Using online tools provided by one of the major online advertisers (Google, Yahoo!, or MSN) the current "bid price" is found for each keyword in the keyword list. The bid price for a keyword represents the minimum price required to have your online advertisement appear on the first page of a search result when the keyword is used in a search.

What do you have to do to get your website noticed by potential customers? Easy! Just listen.
It's one thing for your site to get noticed, but it's another thing to attract visitors to your website as opposed to repelling them with a poor first impression online.
You've attracted lots of visitors to your site. But now you have to "engage" them in an online conversation that makes them feel comfortable about doing business with you.
Once you've engaged your online visitor it's time to start converting them into "paying customers". Knowing how to do this subtly, but in a measurable way that leads to a sale requires skilled marketing.
How to Avoid Wasting Your Money on a New Website
The "Online Marketing Facts of Life"
There is a virtual graveyard on the Internet where poorly-funded and poorly-designed websites go to die a slow death. They are all alone and no one visits them. Many of these websites are owned by Birmingham businesses that were sold on the promise of online success for the "low, low price of only $199.00" -- or some other equally unreasonable claim.
Truth is, online success at a bargain basement price may have been possible ten years ago, but it definitely is not the case today. The competition is greater, the rewards are MUCH higher, and the technology behind a successful online marketing strategy is vastly more sophisticated.
